You Are Not Alone — Find Your Community with Afloat e.V.

At Afloat e.V., a non-profit organisation, drop-in monthly in-person support groups are designed for international, immigrant, and foreigner mothers* and fathers* living in Germany. These groups are open and flexible, allowing mothers* and fathers* to join at any point during the year. Each support group session stands on its own, so you may attend occasionally or regularly, depending on your needs and availability. While there is no long-term commitment, advance registration and booking are required for each support group session. After completing a short one-time registration form, you will receive a link to book your support group session(s) through Calendly.

This booking step is crucial and the only way for you to get the location address of the session. For security reason, only participants who have booked the session(s) can attend it.

These peer-led groups offer ongoing support and connection at your own pace, and can be a helpful first step before joining a closed group. Afloat e.V. is a nonprofit organisation, and our support groups are financed by donations. All groups are open and welcome everyone, regardless of ability to pay.

The Afloat support group is one of rare places where I can be myself and share my feelings about the experience of motherhood*. It gives me support and acceptance. The support group is definitely my “me time” and meeting other immigrant moms* who are also facing different ranges of challenges and feelings gives me a feeling that I’m not alone in this. Sometimes it’s the only place where I feel understood and seen with my experience of postpartum anxiety.
