We are pleased to offer this collaboration between Afloat and A Care Above Therapy Services to help new parents or parents-to-be navigate their multilingual child’s language development.
As parents raising children in a foreign country, navigating the complexities of multilingual development can often be confusing and overwhelming. However, research consistently shows that early introduction to multiple languages enhances cognitive development, improves problem-solving skills, and fosters cultural awareness in children. So, what do we do to help our kids?
As an American Speech Therapist living in Germany, with over a decade of experience working with early-language development, Kate is extremely motivated to educate new multilingual parents on ways to provide a language-rich environment for their children with tools they already have at their disposal. While there are many theories, well-intended advice and expert opinions on the “best way” to help your little one, Kate believes this looks different for every family.
Join Afloat and Kate on June 12th as we explore both typical milestones and patterns you can expect, as well as signs of atypical development that may require attention. We will explore the benefits of raising multilingual children, debunk common myths, and offer concrete tips to foster a rich, supportive environment for your little ones. By the end of this session, we hope you will feel reassured and empowered to navigate the multilingual landscape, ensuring your children can thrive and reach their full potential.
