A unique space for Black immigrant moms*
They say “It takes a village to raise a child” and these days the village looks like online mom* groups.
However, not all these parenting groups are inclusive of the needs, concerns, and experiences of Black moms*.
Black moms* have these unique experiences related to culture and social climate that does not always fit well in parenting groups. That is why the Black Moms* Connect group is very important.
The Black Moms* Connect group will provide a fun and relaxed space for Black mothers* to get to know each other. It will provide a safe space to communicate without judgment. Black Moms* Connect aims to bring together a community of Black mothers* living in Germany and provide a safe space where mothers* can receive love, acceptance and find continuous support. We know the famous saying it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes one to support a mom*.
About our facilitator
The group is facilitated by LC De Shay. The facilitators role is to help create a safe space for connection and support.

Here’s how it works
This group takes place every last Sunday of each month at 20:00 for 60 minutes.
A donation in the amount of 8€ is suggested for those who are able to contribute financially. Afloat requires donations to cover the costs of running our groups so your help is crucial to keep us going. Thank you so much for your help. Please remember that your donation is tax-deductible in Germany and offers financial benefits. Donation receipts are available upon request via email. The group is open and welcomes everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
Meetings take place on Zoom.
The group language is English.
Registration Process
Once you fill out the form below and register for the group, you will be invited to book your session(s) via our Afloat Scheduling Tool on Calendly. This final step is essential: it ensures you receive the Zoom link and gain access to the online session. For security reasons, only participants who have booked a session can attend.
You are joining a monthly drop-in online support group. These groups are peer-led, flexible, and open, allowing participants to join at any point during the year. Each session stands on its own, so you may attend occasionally or regularly, depending on your needs and availability.
While there is no long-term commitment, you must book your session(s) in advance. After completing the one-time registration form below, you will be directed to Calendly to schedule your session(s). You may book multiple sessions at once by browsing through the calendar month by month. If you do not book your session, you will not be able to access the group. Think of it like joining a gym: filling out the form is becoming a member, but booking your session is signing up for the actual yoga class, only then can you attend.
You will then be able to receive reminders and updates with the Zoom link ahead of each session. If you don’t see these emails, please check your spam folder.
