Welcome to Afloat e.V.

Registered Non-Profit Organisation in Germany

Are you an immigrant parent or parent-to-be in Germany?

Then you’re in the right place.

Being a parent abroad is hard β€” and for immigrant families, it can feel especially isolating.

Afloat e.V. is a non-profit organisation that offers free resources and donation-based online and in-person peer-led support groups to not only help you navigate parenting in a new country, but to help you build a community and the support system you deserve.

We are inclusive to anyone who considers themselves a mother*, father*, or primary caretaker, regardless of gender identity or family structure. The gender asterisk * acknowledges that there is a wide range of gender identities beyond the binary.

Every Mom* Deserves Support.

β€œBeing a migrant mom* is hard enough as it is. And finding support is even harder when you struggle with a language barrier. Within a week of contacting Afloat I was connected to local resources and can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for guiding me towards that light.”
— Lora, mom* of 2 from Canada

β€œAs a new mother* navigating the challenges of postpartum life, balancing relationship shifts, career uncertainties, and the loneliness of being in a foreign country, finding this support group has been a true lifeline. The support from the incredible women in this group have made me feel seen, heard, and understood. The honest conversations and heartfelt advice have helped me embrace this journey with more confidence and less isolation. I’m deeply grateful for this space where I feel welcomed and connected.”
