40+ Mama Mom to Mom Peri Menopause Online Drop-In Monthly Support Group

A Safe Space for Mothers* 40⁺ [who may or may not be experiencing Peri / Menopause]. Come, Share, and Connect!

From pregnancy through menopause, a mother’s* journey through hormonal and familial changes can have a profound impact on mental health. This is especially true in our 40s and 50s, whether we are parenting teenagers, young adults, or raising young children following a later-in-life pregnancy. Many of us also carry the emotional weight of caring for ageing parents who may live far away, or are struggling with careers, having trouble balancing our lives, or maybe have financial worries.

You may be feeling anxious, forgetful, overwhelmed, or simply not like yourself. You may be struggling with fatigue, mood changes, brain fog, or new physical symptoms that go unrecognised or are often misdiagnosed. Perimenopause and menopause affect each of us differently. While some experience only mild symptoms, up to thirty percent suffer from debilitating effects. This phase can last for months or even years, and too often, we suffer in silence.

Our peer-led, in-person meetings offer a space to connect with others who share similar experiences. There is no need to explain or justify your feelings. Together, we create a space for open conversation, mutual support, and honest exchange—around balancing motherhood*, personal well-being, and everyday life.

We may talk about depression, anxiety, loneliness, exhaustion, isolation, fear, and unhappiness—as well as physical symptoms like joint pain, headaches, night sweats, or brain fog. These topics are approached with care and without judgement.

Come as you are. Share or simply listen. It can be a difficult time, but we don’t need to go through it alone.

Who is this group for?

  • Mothers* phasing into midlife

  • Mothers* experiencing perimenopause or menopause

  • Mothers* navigating late pregnancy or parenting young children in midlife

  • Those seeking understanding, connection, and a sense of community

  • Anyone wishing to share, listen, or be present

Please note: This group will be conducted in English and is open to anyone who considers themselves a mother* or primary caretaker of all age children regardless of gender identity or family structure who would like to share their stories and experiences in a safe space.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you as a peer soon.

About our facilitator

The group is facilitated by immigrant mother*, Tasha Walters.

Her role is to facilitate the conversation and ensure the safety of the group.

Tasha is originally from the U.S. but has been living in Berlin for the last 20 years, where she raised her family and experienced firsthand the challenges of being a mother* in a foreign country -adapting to a new culture and language without familiar support networks.

More recently, as her children became young adults and her own parents started failing, she found herself in the throes of peri/menopause, struggling with symptoms and trying to find the support she needed.

Talking and sharing with other mothers* in similar situations proved to be very helpful and in response she would like to bring the sharing and support to other immigrant mothers* in this stage of life.

Disclaimer: Please note that this group is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment by a psychotherapist or psychiatrist. We are a peer to peer support group and a hub to connect you with health care professionals and other service providers around pregnancy and motherhood*. We do not handle psychiatric emergencies.

Mamas* 40+

At some point in your forties, you may find yourself wondering why everything suddenly feels harder. You are more experienced than you have ever been — and yet more overwhelmed. The children still need you. Your parents need you too. Your body is changing in ways nobody quite prepared you for. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you are trying to figure out who you are.

If any of that sounds familiar, you are not alone — and you are not failing.

The Mamas* 40+** Support Group is a space for mothers* over forty** to come together and make sense of this stage of life, honestly, openly, and without judgement. Together we explore the things that don’t always get the conversation they deserve: parenting adolescents or raising young children later in life, supporting ageing parents from afar, navigating personal and professional transitions, and understanding the physical and hormonal changes that can quietly reshape everything.

All mothers* over 40** are welcome. This is a space built on shared experience, mutual support, and the belief that none of us should have to figure this out alone.

Show up when you can. Show up how you can. Show up as you are.

*Mamas — This group welcomes everyone who identifies as a mother —regardless of gender identity or family structure.

**40+ — Inclusive of all who identify as a mother 40 or older — while the group centres on the over-40 experience, those approaching this stage are also welcome.

Tasha Walters

Originally from the United States, I raised my two children in Berlin. Parenting in a foreign country — navigating unfamiliar systems, social norms, and a language that wasn’t my own — brings a particular kind of challenge that many immigrant mothers will recognise immediately: the sense of doing something universal (parenting) in a context that makes it feel anything but. It requires constant translation, not just of language, but of culture, expectation, and self.

When I reached my early forties, I began to notice changes in myself that I struggled to make sense of. My children were becoming teenagers, my father passed away suddenly, my mother began showing signs of dementia, and I was searching for a new professional path. Against that backdrop, the hormonal shifts of midlife were easy to miss — or to misread. I assumed the exhaustion, anxiety, and overwhelm were simply signs that I was failing to cope. It took time, and eventually hitting a wall with burnout and depression, before I understood what was happening and found the support and resources I needed to move through it -to a better place.

That experience made something clear to me: awareness, connection, and shared knowledge are not luxuries for those of us navigating midlife far from home — they are necessities. When your instinctive support network is an ocean away, and the cultural frameworks around you don’t quite fit your own, the gaps can become very isolating very quickly. No one should have to figure this out alone. We are here to help.

We created the Mamas* 40+ support group for just that reason. It is a space for international and immigrant women* over 40** to navigate this period of life with greater confidence, clarity, and connection — supported by shared experience and the knowledge that what you are going through is real, it is recognised, and you are not alone.

I am a visual designer with a background in Psychology & Gender Studies.
